Navigating life’s journey can be very overwhelming, filled to the brim with a lot of unexpected twists and turns that test our faith and resolve. We experience times of joy and times of sorrow, times of success and times of failure, times of doubt and times of certainty. In this complex landscape, it will be very helpful to ask for God’s direction. The Bible gives every believer and every reader of it a very deep wisdom and encouragement, reminding us that we are not alone in our quest for direction.
A treasure trove of insight awaits when we seek bible verses on God’s guidance. These verses remind us of the presence of God and that He has a desire to lead us through our lives. Here are some powerful scriptures that will help you find divine direction as you go through your own journey.
Psalm 32:8
“I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go; I will counsel thee with mine eye upon thee.” Psalm 32:8
For when we need to know the Lord’s direction, we turn to Psalm 32:8. Here, the Lord said He would instruct us, teach us, and counsel us. Since this is so, we can rest knowing God already is guiding our steps. His way has already been shown unto us since we’re following Him today. He is directing and teaching us the way we must walk through the Scripture.
It is also a comfort to know God is counseling us with His loving eye upon us. That means God’s eyes are ever on us, and He is watching over us. Never will the Lord fail us. He guides and directs each day. Just listen for the gentle nudge and keep going forward with Him. God Himself will keep you safe and covered as you proceed with Him.
Psalm 37:23-24
“The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand.” Psalm 37:23-24
If we are walking faithfully with God, then He will make our steps sure. Psalm 37:23-24 starts off by saying, “The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him.” What this portion of Psalm 37:23-24 teaches us is that the Lord will make our steps firm if we are delighting in Him. Those who delight in Him are those who love Him, obey Him, and follow Him.
If we are pleasing to the Lord, He will keep our steps firm and stable. We also find out that even though we may stumble, we shall not fall because the Lord will uphold us with His hand. So even though we may weave off course sometimes, God will place us back on the path we should be walking in navigating life’s journey. There will be times when we will stray, but God will not allow us to fall. He will straighten our paths and make His directions known.
Jeremiah 10:23
“Lord, I know that people’s lives are not their own; it is not for them to direct their steps.” Jeremiah 10:23
The prophet Jeremiah is calling out unto the Lord. He tells him, “Lord, I know that the people of Israel’s life is not their own, and it is not up to them to direct their steps, but rather it should be God Who directs their steps. The lives of Israel belong to Him just as the lives of everyone in the world belong to Him. Never should we be so bold as to say we should direct our own steps—instead, we need to allow the Lord to direct our steps. Allowing the Lord to direct our steps looks like faithfully following Him, obeying Him, and loving Him.
In navigating life’s journey, Jesus will direct your steps if you will let Him. It may be difficult to see His direction at times, but as long as we are walking with God, we can be assured that we are heading in the right direction in our lives. God has plans for each of our lives, and He will make sure that we go in the right direction in order to fulfill these plans (Jeremiah 29:11).
